Therefore, a well-resourced ‘Shikhar’ program has been developed to enhance the learning opportunities of the children. This is a preparatory activity for first graders who are newly enrolled in primary school. It focuses on reading and writing as well as oral language development based on children’s home language.
National Education Policy – 2020 has adopted as a national mission to develop children’s foundation of reading, writing, and numeracy. Learning is a social process. Therefore, ‘Shikhar’ emphasizes on developing language skills with the help of their family teachers to make their learning foundation relevant and meaningful.
