The first satellite of India named Aryabhata was launched by India on 19 April 1975 from Kapustin Yar, a Russian rocket Kosmos-3M launch vehicle. The satellite was assembled at Peenya, near Bangalore, but was launched by a Russian-made rocket.
It was built by ISRO ( Indian Space Research Organisation ). Aryabhata's name was of an astronomer and mathematician of India after the 5th century it was named by the same name. Between 1976 and 1997 satellite Aryabhata images appeared on the back of 2 rupees (Indian Bank Note) and the between of 1 rupee.
